Milestone

The third verb is done. Draw, type, or upload a signature or initials, place it on any page as a movable stamp, resize it, undo it, then save it either still movable or burnt into the page. Up to five signatures and five initials are kept encrypted per Windows user for reuse. Signatures are stored as standard stamp annotations so other readers show them. Files whose permissions forbid annotations are refused with a plain message. A brand mark, a gymnast in a split leap above the beam, landed the same night.

Forms were the first half of signing. This is the second, and with it the three verbs of the owner’s brief, in the pull quote, are all in.

What it does

A signature or a set of initials can be drawn, typed, or uploaded, and then placed on any page as a stamp that can be moved, resized, and undone. Save offers the same choice as forms: keep it editable, or flatten it into the page so nobody can move the signature afterwards, which is what the owner wanted a signed file to be. Up to five signatures and five initials are stored encrypted under the Windows account’s own key, so the next file does not start from scratch.

The stamp is a standard PDF annotation, so Acrobat, Edge, and the rest show it as placed. A file whose permissions forbid annotations is refused with a message that says so, rather than a silent failure.

Verified and merged

The manager verified it end to end in the real application on a government form, a flat PDF, and an encrypted form that forbids filling, before merging. Review approved with four optional findings, now being fixed on a follow-up branch. The owner had gone to bed with a blanket go, so the follow-ups and the brand mark, a gymnast in a split leap above the beam with a “leap blue” accent, were dispatched without waiting.
