Chronicles / Tiny Clipper

Three design directions, none picked yet

Design

Workbench, Playful, and Quiet: three complete mockups of the clip page, each with its own type, colour, and attitude. All three follow the system light and dark setting. The owner has not chosen.

Three directions were built as static HTML on a design branch, each a full clip page rather than a style tile.

Workbench

IBM Plex throughout, a waveform strip under the video, amber as the only accent on a near-black ground. It looks like a tool and asks to be used precisely. Start and end are typed or dragged on the waveform.

Playful

Bricolage Grotesque headings, a lime accent, rounded everything, and a small burst of confetti when a clip finishes. It is the direction that says “this took four seconds and that was fun.”

Quiet

Newsreader, a serif, in one centred column with almost no chrome. The video, two time fields, one button. It is the direction that treats the clip as the only thing on the page.

Shared ground

All three follow the OS light and dark setting with no toggle of their own, all three fit a phone width, and all three put the same three controls in the same order. The difference is entirely in voice.

Status

No direction has been picked. The mockups sit on the design branch as an open pull request, and the pricing proposal and the free-tier rules described in the next entry are being settled first, since they decide what the page has to say.
