Ember: the app takes the site's colours

Design

The app started in teal on purple to match the channel it served. It now uses the orange Ember accent and new logo from clipper-site, and the site dropped its channel-specific references on the same day.

For its first week the app wore the colours of the YouTube channel it publishes to: teal accents on a deep purple ground. That made sense when the app and the channel were the same project.

The change

On 2026-10-03 the app moved to the palette the marketing site already used: a near-black ground with an orange accent the design notes call Ember, and a new logo mark. Buttons, badges, and the calendar’s slot markers all took the new accent. The green approve and red reject buttons stayed, since their colours carry meaning rather than brand.

The site was updated on the same day to remove references to the specific channel, so site and app now describe a tool rather than one channel’s workflow.

Why

Two reasons, both from the owner. First, the app and the channel are no longer one thing: the same tool may serve more than one channel, and the brand should belong to the tool. Second, the site and the app looked like two unrelated products, which is awkward when the site is what Google’s consent screen shows people before they sign in to the app.
