With rules-based vetting in place, the first board’s numbers came into focus: thirty-six campaigns listed, five that a general channel could take. The owner’s answer was the pull quote.
The survey
A research pass looked across the clipping boards. Only two besides the first publish their campaigns where a program could read them. One of them forbids scraping and data collection outright in its terms. The other’s terms say nothing, and a third-party actor already exists that reads its listings for a small fee, though it returns no rules text.
The decision
The owner drew the line at the terms. The board that forbids scraping is never fetched by the app; instead the owner’s own browser session, driven by Claude, reads it by hand, and drops what it finds into a folder the app watches. The board without the rule is read through the paid actor, which means the app never touches that site directly either. A board registry and a Boards setting are being built to hold the lot, with one guard: campaigns that arrive with no rules text do not get sent to the paid rules reader.
Two smaller merges
A “rules reads a day” setting, default fifty and zero for no cap, after the owner hit the cap while testing. And campaigns whose text is mostly in another language are skipped, at the owner’s “campaigns where most of the text is in spanish: let’s skip those.”
Shipped
Both landed the same evening, in two merges. The first adds the actor-read board and the Boards setting, with both boards on by default; a campaign whose board carries no rules text gets a card that says so and links the campaign instead of spending a rules read. The one review round caught a regression before merge: a board failing for a day would have wiped the other board’s campaigns off the page. Now a failed board keeps its last list.
The second merge adds hand-read boards. The owner’s browser session reads the no-scraping board and writes what it finds to a file per board; the finder merges those files into every run. The app itself refuses to request either of the two new boards, and a short brief in the repo tells the browser session what to collect. Both suites green.
